Easter has come and gone, and if you’re like many of us, you might still have a few sweet treats lingering around the house. Chocolate eggs, bunnies, and hot cross buns have a way of adding up, don’t they? There’s no judgment here - just a gentle invitation to reset in the most pleasurable way possible.
Instead of feeling like you need to hit the gym hard or cut back dramatically, why not ease back into feeling good with something you already love? Moving your body in bed with a partner (or on your own) can be a fun, intimate way to burn a few extra calories while connecting, laughing, and feeling amazing.
Sex is already one of life’s great joys - it lifts your mood, gets your heart rate up, and leaves you with that beautiful afterglow. When you choose positions that encourage a bit more movement, it can gently help with that post-Easter reset while keeping things playful and exciting.
Why “sex-ercise” Actually Works for Burning Calories?
A passionate session can burn anywhere from 70 to 150+ calories or more, depending on how long you play and how enthusiastically you move. It works different muscle groups, raises your heart rate, and feels far more enjoyable than a standard workout. Best of all, it’s something you can do in the comfort of your own home, with someone you care about (or solo, if that’s your preference).
It’s not about punishment or “making up” for anything. It’s simply about enjoying your body, feeling strong and sensual, and giving yourself a kind, pleasurable reset.

Here are three of my favourite ways to add movement and burn a few calories while you’re at it.
1. Take the reins - Cowgirl (or Rider) variations
Being on top is such an empowering position. You set the rhythm, control the depth, and decide exactly what feels best. It naturally engages your thighs, glutes, and core as you move.
Imagine straddling your partner, planting your feet or knees comfortably, and starting with slow, rolling hip movements. As things build, you can lift and lower or add a bit more bounce. Your legs and core do the work to keep you steady and in control, turning pleasure into gentle exercise.
For an extra challenge (and more calorie burn), try a slight squat instead of kneeling fully. Switch between slow circles and faster movements to keep your body engaged and the sensations exciting for both of you.
This position puts you in charge of your own pleasure, which feels incredible and helps build confidence. It works beautifully whether you’re exploring with a partner or adapting it for solo play.
2. Get a little wild - Doggy Style with extra intention
Doggy style offers deep sensations and plenty of opportunity for movement. The person thrusting can engage their legs, hips, and core with each motion, while the receiving partner can turn it into more of a full-body experience too.
Instead of resting fully on your elbows, try staying up on your hands in a gentle plank-like position. Engage your core, keep your back neutral, and meet each movement by pushing back. You’ll feel it in your arms, shoulders, glutes, and abs.
For the giving partner, adding a bit more power or speed increases the effort and the fun. Start slow and sensual, then build intensity as the mood takes you. It’s the kind of position that naturally builds heat and connection.
This one adapts easily for all couples - same-sex, different-sex, or however you and your partner identify. The key is communicating what feels good and adjusting together.
3. Stand and deliver - Standing positions for that extra burn
If you want to add even more movement, standing positions bring gravity into play and require extra balance and strength. Face-to-face with one leg lifted, or from behind with hands against a sturdy surface - both options get your legs, core, and stabilising muscles working.
You can start against a wall or the edge of the bed for support, making it accessible and exciting. As you move together, you’ll naturally shift and adjust, keeping things dynamic and burning a few more calories along the way.
Standing play often feels spontaneous and passionate, and it can easily flow into other positions when your legs need a break. It’s a lovely way to mix things up and keep the energy high.

A few gentle reminders from your slightly naughty mate
Listen to your body. Go at a pace that feels good. Pleasure should feel inviting, never straining.
Warm up first. Plenty of kissing, touching, and teasing helps get the blood flowing and keeps things comfortable.
Stay hydrated. Keep water handy - you might work up a sweat.
Focus on enjoyment. The goal is connection and pleasure first. The calorie burn is just a happy bonus.
This post-Easter reset isn’t about being strict with yourself. It’s about celebrating your body as it is - soft spots, strong spots, and everything in between. You deserve pleasure that feels kind, exciting, and deeply satisfying.
So why not make time this week for some intimate play? Light a candle, put on music you love, and give yourself (and your partner) the gift of movement, laughter, and those beautiful endorphins.
Because life’s too short for anything less than pleasure that leaves you feeling good inside and out.
Wishing you a heart racing reset filled with connection and delight.
